            The Cosmo Strigaro Memorial Tournament
       
        Rules for the 28th Annual N.Y.S. Volunteer Firemen's Softball Tournament
       
      1).  Only Volunteer firefighters may play in the tournament.  The Chief of the district
             will certify the roster.

      2).  Slow pitch - 6 foot minimum to 12 foot maximum Arc.

      3).  There will be Two Divisions as follows:
            a).  Division A:  Double elimination.
            b).  Division B:  Should a team lose their first two (2) games, you will be eligible to play on
                Sunday in a single elimination tournament to be played at the High School fields.  The final
                'B' Division game will be played at the Firemen's Home field prior to the final 'A' Division
                game.  The winner of the 'B' Division will be designated as State Champion of that Division.
             (B Division games may be cancelled due to time constraints caused by foul weather or other delays.)
     
      4).  No leading off or anticipating the pitch.

      5).  Foul third strike rule will be in effect.

      6).  Five (5) practice pitches and infield practice only in the first inning of the game.  Relief pitchers will
            be allowed three (3) warm up pitches.

      7).  Use of the strike zone mat will continue.

      8).  Two (2) new softballs per game.

      9).  Sliding rule is in effect.  NO malicious contact of any kind will be allowed.  Any player not abiding
            by this rule shall be called out and ejected.

    10).  Any ejected player cannot participate in the next game that their team plays.

    11).  Two (2) sanctioned umpires will officiate each game with three (3) umpires for the final game.

    12).  Thirteen (13) run rule is in effect after the official game limit has been played.

    13).  The Tournament Chairman will receive any protest after being declared to the Plate Umpire
            and signed,  lodged within fifteen (15) minutes of the game along with a $100.00  non-refundable
            fee.

    14).  Prohibited:  Metal spikes, bunting, stealing, triangular bats, titanium bats, or triple wall bats
            and unsportsmanlike conduct.  Only ASA approved bats are allowed to be used in this 
            tournament.
     
    15).  Games will be played with a one (1) hour, fifteen (15) minute time differential, with a fifteen
           (15) minute rule.  Teams will be ready to start, with players present, and the game line up
           presented to the Official scorekeeper fifteen (15) minutes prior to the scheduled start time of the
           game.  This will be in effect even if other games are running behind schedule.

    16).  Rain delays: If a game has to be stopped due to weather, games will be suspended  from the point
            the Umpire stopped the play.

    17).  The umpires and only the umpires are in charge of each game.  Their decision is FINAL.

    18).  If you start the game with nine (9) players, you must finish the game with nine (9) players.

    19).  Due to insurance regulations, no one is allowed on the bench or in the dugout except for players,
            scorekeepers, team manager, coach and one (1) bat retriever.

    20).  One pinch runner may be used per game as long as announced at the beginning of the game.

    21).  Automatic Disqualifications:  Food or beverage consumed of any kind on the tournament site
            obtained from outside sources exposes player, guest and team to immediate expulsion from this
            tournament.  The only exceptions are water or fruit.

    22).  No refund on food or beverage tickets.

    23).  There will be a limit of three (3) home runs per game which are hit over the fence.  After three
            home runs are hit in a game, each additional home run will be counted as an "out".

    ANY GAMES PLAYED AT THE GREENPORT TOWN PARK OR THE HUDSON HIGH
    SCHOOL IS SUBJECT TO THE RULES OF THAT LOCATION. ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES
    ARE NOT ALLOWED AT EITHER LOCATION.  ANY TEAM BRINGING ALCOHOL ON
    TO THESE SITES WILL BE DISQUALIFIED—NO EXCEPTIONS!!!
