This Web Page addresses the issue of the Sanitary Transportation law, Title 49: Transportation, Chapter 57.

In 1994 Congress revamped the 1990 laws because the trucking industry ignored their responsibility to the public's health. At the time Congress sounded outraged, yet never provided a provision to uphold or enforce these laws especially Section 5706: Designated vehicles. The Laws are well written except for this flaw. In my letter to Congressman Sweeny I make a suggestion about how Congress could fix this Law so it could be easily upheld and strictly enforced with essentially no extra cost to the taxpayers. I also supply evidence by way of spreadsheets showing loads that I hauled for MPC Trucking. These also show MPC's gross disrespect for these laws. I have been witness to them breaking these laws and through my documentation I can prove this to be fact. On the Amstar and WR Grace spread sheets you will find some of the trailer numbers printed in Red, these are the trailers that have hauled asbestos before hauling food product. The trailer numbers that have been highlighted, are trailers that have hauled Monsey Products Corp. products before the food product. Monsey Products Corp. makes driveway sealer, roof coatings, paints, and in doing so uses highly toxic substances; Asbestos, coal tar, Anthracene, Naphthalene, and others.

I have not yet included The Drivers Daily Logs or the Trip Sheets that I provided Congressmen Sweeny, but will do so in time. I belive this shows without a doubt that the amendment I am asking Congressmen Sweeny and the rest of congress to pass into law is well over DUE.

Update 8/25/2000

I have recently found out that Congressman Sweeny is a co-sponsor of a bill in Crongress that will LIMIT the LIABILITY to the Companies for ASBESTOS EXPOSURE. I now believe that my request for the amendment to Congressman Sweeny is unlikely to be pursued by Mr. Sweeny because he backs the Limit of Asbestos Liability.

Dave Gribbins, Halliburton's vice president for government affairs, added, "We give money to candidates for a variety of reasons, usually to those who are supportive of the business agenda, the things that are important to us, like taxes, trade or something specific like this asbestos issue."
